St. Catherine’s is adding an Introduction to Engineering course as a pilot for a curriculum growth program called Project Lead the Way. As stated by PLTW, Engineering students become tomorrow’s problem solvers today. The emphasis on such courses is a shift from traditional learning pathways to career-based pathways. This project-based learning inspires multi-dimensional projects, teaches the design process and teaches students to design and create.
This is just the beginning.
This course will be incorporated into the curriculum at St. Catherine’s for the 18-19 school year, but the plan includes expanding the program in the High School and into the elementary and middle schools as well.
In order to be part of the PLTW Engineering program, St. Catherine’s would like to invest in updated lab space and 20 - 25 new computers to accommodate this STEM program.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to invest in this worthy academic effort for the 18-19 school year.
